6 The Mouse lets you point and click to tell the computer what to do.
The Monitor is like a television screen. It shows pictures and letters. The Keyboard has letters and numbers on buttons called Keys. It allows you to write and put information into the computer. The Mouse lets you point and click to tell the computer what to do. The Printer makes paper copies of your work. The C.P.U (Central Processing Unit) is the brain of the computer. 7 Input, Output and Storage units
Computer parts can be classified into three groups according to their function. Input units: Tools that put information into the computer such as: mouse keyboard Scanner Microphone Web camera Finger print reader Barcode reader Stylus / Pen Touch pad Output units: Tools that take information out of the computer such as: monitor printer speakers

13 Lesson 2- Deal with Files and Folders
A file Is a page or pages created on the computer. Almost all information stored in a computer must be in a file. There are many types of files: Examples: document, spreadsheet and presentations. A folder A subdivision of the hard disk for organizing data. Folders contain files as well as other folders. Folders can be created on the desktop or on any other place on the computer Example: (Hard disk – Floppy disk – CD). To RENAME a file or a folder: Right click on the file or folder then choose Rename. Or Press F2 on the keyboard. 2. Write the new name. 3. Press Enter.

14 To Paste the copied file:
To Create a new folder: Right click in any space, choose New, then choose Folder, the folder will appear ready to rename. To Copy a file: Right click on the file to be copied – choose copy. To Paste the copied file: Go to the new place where you want the copy of your file, right click, then choose paste (Now you have two copies of the same file). Folder Files

An operating system (OS) is a collection of software that controls computer hardware. An operating system is a software that allows the hardware and other software to talk with each others. Computer hardware refers to the parts of a computer such as monitor, keyboard, computer data storage, hard drive disk, mouse, CPU. You can touch the hardware but you can’t touch the software. Examples of operating systems: Windows – Linux – Mac – Dos – Unix - Android

Search feature is a computer program that finds files or folders that are stored on the computer. Example: There’s a file called “Books” and you can’t remember it’s place, You can use Search feature to search for it. To search for a file, take the following steps: 1- Open start and choose search Choose “All files and folders”.

23 3- Write the file name “Books ” and click on the Search button to start searching.
4- When the file is found, it's name will be displayed, double click the file name to open it. Double click on the file name to open it.

24 Lesson 5- Use the Help feature
At some point, you're likely to run into a computer problem , to figure it out, you'll need to know how to get the right help. Using Windows Help: Windows Help and Support is the built-in help system for Windows. It's a place to find answers to questions, and instructions for how to do things. To open Windows Help and Support, Follow these steps: To find help on how to print. 1- Open My computer. 2- Look at the menu bar (at the top of your window). 3- Find the word Help on the menu bar, and click on it. select the Help and support center.

25 4- Write the word “print " and click on the Search box.
Write “print” This is the search box 5- Look at the list of topics that are displayed. click a subtopic to open it. Read the information about printing, and close the Help feature.

Control Panel Is used to change settings and customize the functionality of your computer. You can use Control Panel to change settings for Windows. These settings control nearly everything about how Windows looks and works. To open the control panel, follow these steps: Open start menu. Click on control panel on the left side.

1. Open Date and Time in Control Panel. 2. On the Date & Time tab, select the item you want to change. 3. To change the hour, double-click the hour ( to choose it), and then click the arrows to increase or decrease the value. 4. To change the minutes, double-click the minutes, and then click the arrows to increase or decrease the value. 5. To change the seconds, double-click the seconds, and then click the arrows to increase or decrease the value. 6. To change the AM/PM indicator, select it, and then click the arrows.

Use Display in Control Panel to select a screen saver, or a desktop background. To change the desktop background: Open desktop tab. Choose the background you want. Choose the position( Center – Tile – Stretch – Fill – Fit) Click on Ok.

A screen saver is a computer program that fills the screen with moving images or patterns when the computer is not in use To set or change a screen saver: Open screen saver tab. Choose the screen saver you want and click on it. Specify the number of minutes in wait. After you select a screen saver, it will automatically start when your computer is idle(not in use) for the number of minutes specified in Wait.

Information and documents are stored in computer so that they can be used whenever they are needed. Examples for storage devices: Floppy Disk - CD - DVD - Hard Disk - Flash memory A computer stores data using several different ways. Therefore, there are different levels of data storage. Types of Computer Storage Primary storage : Primary storage is the main memory in a computer. A computer's internal hard drive is a primary storage. Ex: Saving a document on the desktop or my computer. 2. Secondary storage (External): Secondary storage is another storage to save your work and documents. It is very useful to store programs and data for future use. Ex: Floppy disk – CD – Flash memory

Hard disk drives have very large storage capacities today, they are often in the hundreds of gigabytes range, and they can even be as large as 1 terabyte (roughly a trillion bytes) in capacity. hard disk drives come in two major types external and internal: Internal drives are housed inside the computer’s box or tower, while external drives are enclosed in their own housing outside of the computer.
