15 CAS The CAS is the electronical part The CAS is connected with - door modules - seat modules - power module The CAS has Master-functions for - central locking - power windows The CAS controles - remote control - terminal monitoring - EWS - engine start - starter control

16 CAS Vehicle Key

17 CAS Terminal selection if brake is not activated terminal 30
terminal R terminal 30 terminal 15

18 CAS The engine can be started in all terminal selections, if
- the brake is activated - P- or N-position is detected The engine will stop running, if - the car stands and the start/stop button is pressed After the engine stops the terminal „R“ is active

19 CAS EWS-Functions

20 CAS The vehicle order in the CAS - replaces the central coding key, ZCS - describes the current version of the vehicle - varys in length depending on vehicle equipment The vehicle order will be sored in the vehicle together with the pre-initialization in the factory plant

21 CBS-Data (Condition Based Service) CBS-Data are stored
CAS CBS-Data (Condition Based Service) CBS-Data are stored - in the remote control - in the EEPROM of the CAS Data stored: - configuration of the CBS - vehicle identification number VIN - type of vehicle - FA-Data - dealership coding - current vehicle version - CBS-Data - check-control-data - fault memory data

22 CAS Redundant Data Storage To make sure that in the event of replacing the instrument cluster the vehicle specific data will not get lost, those data are stored redundant in the CAS.

76 WIM Rain-/Light-Sensor

77 WIM Heating of the water tube in the wiper arm -water is electricaly heated in the wiper arm -heating element at the lower end of the wiper arm

78 WIM Functions: Wiper positions: depending on the function different positions are possible

79 WIM Functions: Alternating Park Position APS:
-park position dependent on the wiper position -with „INTERVAL“ higher position than with „OFF“ -park position in „OFF“ changes every 4 days

80 washer jets are not adjustable
WIM Functions: Washer jet cleaning function - wiper arm in park position - terminal R off - press wiper switch within one minute at least 3 s Washer pump works - pulswide with full load - max. 30 s - no wiper arm movement washer jets are not adjustable

81 PDC (Park Distance Control)

82 PDC Firstly launched in 1991 in the E32. The PDC in the E65 is a further development of the E38 PDC. The principal functions are taken over from the PDC-systems since MY 98. New: - acoustical distance warning with the audio speakers - optical distance warning via CD - information about faults in CC and CD

83 PDC

84 PDC Acoustical PDC-Warning

85 PDC Optical PDC-Warning

86 RDC (Tyre Pressure Warning System)

87 RDC Principal functions of the system are equal to the existing system. New: The controller replaces the „SET-Button“.

88 RDC

89 RDC Initialization During the initialization the CC-Message
„RDC is being initialized“ is displayed in the instrument cluster. After completing the tyre pressures of each tyre will be displayed in the CD.
