2. What is FBLA? Regional, State and National Club
Based on business principles and free enterprise system.
Offers opportunities for competition, workshops and community involvement

3. What does FBLA do at East?
We compete in regions and states (sometimes nationals) through various competitions. *Not all competitions are business related.
We attend regional and state workshops to learn, network, have fun.

4. Initial Costs Everyone who joins must pay $20 for membership dues.
$6 for State Dues
$6 for National Dues
$8 for East High account
Will receive national membership card, good for discounts at local places.

5. Other Costs
These costs are flexible, as it depends on how much money we earn through fundraisers (or can get from the school district)
The following costs are the numbers without fundraising! The more we fundraise, the cheaper, if not free, things are!

6. Costs: State Leadership Workshop (SLW): $35
Regional Leadership Workshop (RLW): *Free
Regional Competition (RLC): $10
State Competition (SLC): $100

7. Membership Forms
Membership forms and Dues must be brought to Burns by Wednesday, September 21.

8. Involvement
Bronze: pay dues, compete, attend minimal meetings, pay all costs for completion and workshop/trip fees
Silver: pay dues, compete, attend more than 50% of meetings, attend workshops, pay for 50% of all costs
Gold: pay dues, compete, attend 90% of meetings, attend workshops, most costs covered by FBLA chapter.

10. Missed meeting?
Don’t interrupt Burns’ classes to see what you missed. Find out from other members or from information posted on website or outside of room 128.

11. Competitions
Some competitions only allow one competitor. For those events, it is first come, first serve. Priority goes to member who paid dues on time.
Note: Regional testing and conference is usually in early December.

12. Competitions
Some competitions are state only events. This means you skip regionals, and go right to states.
+ automatic go to states
- don’t get the day off to go to regionals

13. Video Project Extra, doesn’t count towards personal competition.
: East video won 3rd place. Gets us prime seating at state competition.

14. Chapter Officers
Anyone interested in running for an office will have to complete a interest form.
Have to set guidelines for main officers to avoid lack of leadership due to too many commitments.

17. Video Project Topic National Kidney Foundation
Promote foundation using information about organization, mission, goals, etc.

Due: October 31

18. RLW
Not decided yet. Burns will go to regional meeting late September to discuss issue.
Last year, never done, so will have to do one this year.
(Senators game was extra, didn’t count as RLW)

19. SLW Not in State College anymore! Will be in Harrisburg this year.
Downtown Hilton, 2nd Street
Dates: Sunday-Monday, Nov. 6-7
Cost to attend: $35
What does this mean for us?

20. Schedule Sunday: We need to be at opening session by 10:45.
Afterwards, members must attend 3 of the 4 workshop sessions being offered.
Dodgeball Tournament: 8:00-11:00

21. Dodgeball We are hosting this in our gym.
Will include athletes
We need to have a team to represent.
Those not attending SLW, or those attending but not playing Dodgeball, we need your help with concession stand.

22. Dodgeball Concession Stand
We need to raise money. Last year, we did okay, had 4 fundraisers.
If we do well with the concession stand, we may raise enough funds to only have to hold one more fundraiser.
Will need members to work concession stand.
Would help if once we get a list of items to be sold, parents can help donate. Anything not donated will have to be purchased.

23. Dodgeball We will need East/FBLA T-shirts.
Anyone who isn’t playing or attending is still eligible to purchase an East FBLA T-shirt.

24. SLW: Monday Excused absence Be at hotel by 7:40.
Do we want to get breakfast downtown before session?
Must attend closing session to be excused for full day. (If we come back to East before 2:30, we have to go to classes).

25. Interested in attending the SLW?
Need emergency form, with $35, by Wednesday, October 5.
