9:45-10:45 -  Period 1 10: :30 -  SPECIALS 11: :30 - Period 2 12: :50 - RECESS 12:55 - 1:25 -  LUNCH  1:30 - 2:30 - Period 3 2:30 - 3:30 - Period 4 3:30 - 3:40 - Homeroom 3:40 - Dismissal It’s not really as busy as it looks! BUT…students MUST assume more responsibility for themselves, ASK questions when uncertain, maintain their organization, and engage in their own learning.

LITERACY… English Language Arts {ELA}

12 ELA Focus Skills: Read and respond to a variety of texts
Emphasis on finding supporting evidence for his or her thinking using specific examples from the text.  Attention to content vocabulary acquisition Making connections among ideas and between texts and supporting ideas with textual evidence.

Reading – Increased emphasis on non-fiction & significant increase in justifying WHY they think as they do – for both fiction and non-fiction Writing – Transcendent skill…it applies to ALL areas Reading / Writing / Speaking / Listening skills – THESE are the ultimate keys to success!

MATH Not just computation or memorization… Significant emphasis on developing a depth of understanding of limited math topics while also developing their ability to utilize the Practices of Math Primary emphasis…FRACTIONS Concrete – Representational - Abstract
