Romanticism test moved to 19th and 20th (know important lines from each poem as well as author and 5 “I’s”)

3 Class Overview The What: Today we’re going to analyze two poems about the same topic in order to compare author’s style and purpose. We are also stepping back and making sure that we understand how to break down a poem. We all need to be risk takers! There are no wrong answers today, so be willing to give it your best shot.

4 Intro to New Material Everyone needs to make sure that their poetry packet is on their desk. Take notes in Section 2 of your notebook (# 3?) and title them Ozymandias.

5 Guided Practice: TPFASTT as a class

6 Discuss What element of Romanticism do we see?

7 Independent Practice Read Horace’s poem, “Ozymandias” (I will display it) TPFASTT it on the back of your worksheet (7 min)

8 Discuss Which poem do you like better? Why?

9 Exit Ticket 15 min Scholars will write a ½ page comparing and contrasting the two poems. Suggestion Thesis about both 1st par. Comparison 2nd par. Contrasts Conclusion sentence about both
