5. Sentence type gallery walk
With your cheat sheet (notes) in hand, walk around the room with a partner and identify each type of sentence posted on the wall. Write an explanation as to why it is that particular sentence. For example, you could write, “This is a complex/compound sentence since the phrase “After the movie” is a dependent clause and “we went to the store and then we went home” are two independent clauses joined together by a conjunction, and”.
Let’s see who can get the most correct!

Now that we’ve practiced types of sentences, let’s move on to looking at punctuation. We’re going to use our knowledge of independent and dependent clauses to attack Section 9 in our EOC Packets.
