5 HEDW Conference Conference Take Aways . . .
From BI Executive Sponsor Perspective BI Team – Built on Critical Relationships Forward Thinking Hiring a Consultant/Learning from and with other OBIEE Institutions Consistent Messages from Peers Dimensional Data Models – ‘Heart of Activity’ Ideal to build dimensional models in warehouse, connect to physical layer Takes specialists to create dimensional models – centralize that skill Once Dimensional Model populated many can use Plan to built it twice . . . Notion that can’t change could be enemy Don’t have just one chance; consultants buys time but need to get people up to speed Build a ‘central’ BI Team BI Publisher Problematic Doesn’t work well with complex SQL Doesn’t deal well with local joins

6 Status on FY17 Funding & RFP
Additional CSRG proposal was submitted for consulting resources to help campuses implement student content (dimensional data modeling and semantic layer expertise) and training resources. Accepted by CSRG; will be forwarded to President Cross for approval. RFP UW does not have a contract in place to procure consulting resources to support OBIEE implementation.. RFP is now being drafted.

7 RFP Scope Seeking an OBIEE implementation consulting firm.
A team of consultants to: Work with institutions to develop template dimensional data model & semantic layer for PeopleSoft student data. Develop curriculum and materials for author, consumer, and train-the-trainer courses that can be used across the institutions. Evaluative criteria includes experience with complex settings in higher education environments.

8 RFP Scope Extending requirements to include technical, functional and project management roles that may be needed beyond CSRG-funded initiative. Resulting UW System contract that can be used by: Individual institutions (using their own funding) to transition from IR to OBIEE. Individual institutions (using their own funding) to extend OBIEE functionality beyond scope of IR transition. System-wide enterprise applications (i.e. HRS or SFS) to support transition from IR to OBIEE, and to extend functionality beyond scope of transition.
