2 25 1,400 250,000 Years Communities Invested In Lives impacted
Since its’ founding in 1991 – 25 years ago – the Canadian Women’s Foundation has grown to become one of the ten largest women’s foundations in the world. Thanks to support from individual donors and corporate partners, we’ve become a leading voice for women and girls in Canada. Every year, the money we raise helps women and girls move out of violence, out of poverty and into confidence. This funding is invested in the most effective community programs and organizations across Canada that help thousands of women and girls transform their lives and realize their full potential. OUR IMPACT 25 Years 1,400 Communities Invested In 250,000 Lives impacted

3 Violence Prevention Work
The statistics about violence in Canada may surprise you Every night 3,300 women and 3,000 children sleep in an emergency shelter to escape domestic violence. We help women in Canada to move out of violence by investing in emergency shelters – over 450 across Canada - and programs that help survivors rebuild their lives through counseling, legal advice, and loan funds. We also work to stop the violence before it starts. In our Teen Healthy Relationships programs, high school students learn to recognize the warning signs of abuse and to build safe and healthy relationships.

4 Our Support Can Make a Difference

5 Help build the first generation free of violence against women and to experience real gender equality. For 25 years, we’ve invested in the most critical challenges facing women and girls in Canada. But what is really required to create sustainable long-term change? Equality. Because all of the issues affecting women and girls today—violence, poverty, girls’ lack of confidence—are rooted in inequality.   I’d like to share a short video with you that describes why working together to create the first generation to experience gender equality is so important.

7 We can join the GEN1 movement by participating in Move for GEN1!
Fundraising (lots of support provided by the Foundation) Taking part in the workout (appropriate for all fitness levels) Enter a team + + GEN1 means: The first generation free of violence. No sexual harassment or assault, no domestic abuse, no sex trafficking. The first generation of economic equality. No gender wage gap, no glass ceiling, no girls afraid to show their brilliance. The first generation of inclusive leadership. Leadership that collaborates and includes marginalized voices. How will we do it? By building on the work we’ve already done. By continuing to honour those who have gone before us on this journey. By continuing to work closely with grassroots organizations and diverse communities. By continuing to be guided by research. By continuing to listen to the voices if those who are impacted by this issues. Because we believe the best solutions are designed by the people closest to the problem. And by partnering – with individuals and businesses, such as <business name>, who share our vision for equality for all women and girls in Canada.
