We will now go through the steps showing you how to view a Raster Map
Before viewing maps, they must first be registered. They are then stored in a directory, defined by the user. The following examples assume a map has been registered. The map used in the example is a Bartholomews 1:250,000 scale. For details on how to register a map, see the section ‘Registering Maps’. HowSold MAPPER uses raster maps in the Bitmap (BMP) format. This is one of the world’s most common formats. Now click the left mouse button for the next slide

We will now go through the steps showing you how to view Digital Maps.
Before viewing maps, they must first be registered. They are then stored in a directory, defined by the user. The following examples assume a map has been registered. The map used in the example is an Ordnance Survey 1:1250 scale map. For details on how to register a map, see the section ‘Registering Maps’. The Ordnance Survey supply their maps in the National Transfer Format (NTF). This is their standard format. Their large scale series maps (1:1,250, 1:2,500 and 1:10,000) are known as LandLine and LandLine Plus. . Now click the left mouse button for the next slide

We will now go through the steps showing you how to link HowSold MAPPER to a database.
HowSold MAPPER does not store data. Instead, it links to your own database or spreadsheet. This link or connection, uses Microsoft’s Open Data Base Connectivity (ODBC). The following examples assume the ODBC link has been established to a database. The database being used is called LVIUDATA. It is stored in a MS Access table. For details on how to link HowSold MAPPER to your data, see section ‘ODBC Link’. Now click the left mouse button for the next slide
37
POINT DATA displayed as points on a map.
Users can access grid referenced data directly from their native database or spreadsheet. The data can then be displayed as points on a map. The user can analyse the information via a polygon, circle or buffer. The results can then be exported back into the database as a separate table. LVIUDATA* This dataset will be used in the following examples *This dataset is derived from data supplied by the LVIU. It contains details of all property transactions in Scotland. For this purpose the data is held in a Microsoft Access database. The database can have any number of fields but it MUST have a grid reference - easting and northing Now click the left mouse button Now click the left mouse button for the next slide

Now press OK 3. This dataset has a twelve figure grid reference. The Co-ordinate Accuracy must therefore be set to 1m. 2. The Easting and Northing drop down boxes MUST contain the column names from the database which inform HowSold MAPPER where each record is positioned. The system will automatically fill in these two fields if the field names of the grid reference are called “Easting Northing” or “X Y”. A closed boundary is called a polygon. They are supplied in several common formats, and may represent Administrative Areas, Postcode areas/districts/sectors etc. The following boundaries are examples of boundaries held in a GISMO format. For other formats supported see the section entitled ‘Features’. You may store these files in any directory. Now click the left mouse button for the next slide

BOUNDARIES and POLYGONS
HowSold MAPPER can import closed boundaries of different formats e.g. MIF, GEN, Gismo and BNA New boundary definer Boundary name description Boundary name This boundary file represents Service Delivery Areas. When loading MS Access, the option to load the ODBC Drivers should be ticked. The following example will show you how to create the ODBC link to a database. The database being used is called LVIUDATA. It is stored in a MS Access table. It is assumed that the MS Access ODBC Drivers are loaded. Please note that in order for HowSold MAPPER to link to a datasource, there must be an ODBC driver loaded. Now click the left mouse button for the next slide
