15 Persistent Links Persistent URL Guide
Persistent URLs (PURLs) are durable links which connect students directly to a resource found in NCU Library. You are required to use PURLs when linking to Library resources in the course syllabus. PURLs ensure students will be able to access the resource without the link breaking and help us remain in compliance with copyright. Each Library database has a different process for capturing PURLs. Please click the button below to access the Persistent URL Guide which addresses the unique process for each database. 17 Copyright & Permissions
Persistent linking to NCU Library resources ensures we are in copyright compliance with our database vendors. However, if you wish to link to resources and websites outside of our Library, you must ensure the resources comply with both copyright and ADA accessibility. If a resource is needed for a course which requires requesting permission, please work with your CD to initiate, track, and document the request. Try identifying resources which require requesting permission early in the process as obtaining permissions can take time.* Click the button below to access FAQs addressing copyright and course development: *Note: Please see Section 5.3, Course Resources: Compliance, p. 12, of the NCU Course Development Guidelines for more information. Try to incorporate resources published within the past five years as NCU students are typically required to find the most up-to-date research in their fields. While you may include citations to resources not available through the Library, including print books, we strongly encourage you to use Library resources whenever possible. If using open access resources, we encourage you to check out our Open Access Resources page available under Research Resources. Any Questions? Contact the Library!
