2 Introduction How has Samuel Taylor Coleridge changed the romantic movement? Samuel Taylor Coleridge Thesis statement -Samuel Taylor Coleridge, the head and master of the romantic movement. He is a man known for his romantic poems and ways of poetry. Samuel Taylor Coleridge was born on October 21, 1772, in Devonshire, England. The ways of poetry he discovered are very romantic, that he instilled the romance in his readers. He is a father of 4 children, but his children lived with their mother the most. His father, Reverend John Coleridge, was a master of a grammar school and his father is also a reason for him being the key of romanticism. William Wordsworth is a friend of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, a romantic poet, and he also boosted Samuel Taylor Coleridge into becoming a great poet. Samuel Coleridge is who played a huge role into developing the romantic movement, him and his colleagues were like the rap artists of their time. (Academy of American Poets, 1) www. Poets.org

3 Early Life Father dies Hated sports Childhood stories
Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s father, the Reverend John Coleridge, dies. He is sent to Christ's Hospital, a London boarding school that gives free education to orphans. Samuel Taylor Coleridge said that he "took no pleasure in boyish sports" but instead read a lot over his playing time and when he played, he played by himself. His childhood stories were so affecting on him and he would just repeat them over and over to his friends.

4 Education Starts school Changes Begins university College
At the age of three, Samuel starts school at Dame Key's Reading School. He than attends Henry VIII Free Grammar School in Ottery St. Mary. The hardest thing in his life comes, entering university, while his father was dead and him trying his best to enter college. Cambridge university is what he got in and it wasn’t a simple university, at that time William Wordsworth just graduated from it. The college he was in was called Jesuit College.

5 Career Poetry Job Proving the writing
-Samuel Taylor Coleridge transition into being a Romantic poet began in 1794 when he began to focus on nature in his poetry. -Samuel Taylor Coleridge considers becoming a Unitarian minister. He is offered a job from manufacturers Thomas and Josiah Wedgwood offer him an annual salary of 150 pounds a year to support himself while he writes. -Samuel Taylor Coleridge moves in to William Wordsworth's household in Grasmere. He lectures and writes every once and a while, although his poor health and addiction slow his progress.

-Samuel Taylor Coleridge marries Sara Fricker. Their marriage turns out to be an unsuccessful and unhappy one, and Samuel Taylor Coleridge spends most of his life living apart from his wife and children. -Their first child, son Hartley Coleridge, is born. -Samuel Taylor Coleridge returns to England and falls in love with Sara Hutchinson, Wordsworth's sister-in-law. Since his marriage was unsuccessful. -Samuel Taylor Coleridge's fourth and final child, daughter Sara, is born.

7 Later life Travels to the Mediterranean Separation Addiction Rehab
-Samuel Taylor Coleridge travels to Malta and Italy, hoping that the climate will improve his health. He plans on a journey of six months. He is gone for two years. -When he returned he didn’t meet up with his wife and they separated, but they didn’t divorce. He continued on with supporting her. -He was addicted to the painkiller he used for chronic pain and he never stopped. -He contacted a doctor and he asked that he wanted to stop. He moved into London for relaxing and trying to quit. He never stopped using the drug but he lowered the use.

8 Conclusion Samuel Taylor Coleridge is a man that consisted his life for romantic poetry. The life of Samuel Coleridge and a brief explanation of his biography. The only thing that stopped him from being the best is the drugs. The romantic movement was changed after his accomplishments.
