11 Line Element of length: organize, direct, separate, suggest an emotion or create rhythm

12 shape The external outline of a form

13 texture The look and feel of a surface: pattern, design
Adds richness and dimension

14 space Space between objects, often known as white space

16 Size/scale The size of objects in relation to one another
Indicates importance, focus

17 value The lightness or darkness of an object or area on the website
Shows depth When used w/ color can indicate mood, emotion

18 Design principles

19 balance Arranging elements on a page to provide a sense of equity – or to purposefully unbalance them to create emphasis

20 proximity The relationship between elements on the page

21 alignment Brings order and organization, includes how you align text and elements on the page

22 repetition Repetition, consistency and unity all ensure your website has a consistent, easy to read flow Includes text, color, how objects are displayed, etc.

23 contrast Use of different sizes, shapes and colors.
Indicates importance, helps items stand out

24 Wednesday, February 22nd Warm Up: For the website below, identify the title/banner, navigation links, and the use of the following design elements and principles: line, proximity, balance

put a circle around the title/banner- put stars around the navigation links- label the use of balance by writing the word “balance”- label the use of proximity by writing the word “proximity” continue the labeling of all design principles and elements: line, shape, texture, space, size/scale, value, alignment, repetition, contrast.
