2 Vision and Goal Vision: Goal:
To provide an alternate and credible pathway towards a post-secondary education that targets underserved student populations within the local K-12 community. Goal: To leverage the past and current success of the Mission Middle College Program into a diploma- bearing high school on the campus of Mission College. Mission College's first priorities are students, their learning, and their success.

3 History of Mission Middle College
Began in the Spring of 2001 in partnership with Mission College Goal to provide a nurturing and supportive educational environment where high school students could begin venturing into college coursework Served approximately thirty 11th grade and thirty 12th grade SCUSD students Mission College's first priorities are students, their learning, and their success.

4 Common Traits Among MMC Students
Students desired a more mature learning environment an educational culture that cultivates student independence an educational environment that develops academic and personal potential within a safe and nurturing environment a non-hierarchical and non-competitive academic environment focused on learning, rather than attaining a grade an opportunity to focus studies on academic passions while completing high school grad requirements Mission College's first priorities are students, their learning, and their success.

“Mission Early College High School” (MECHS) Transition From a Middle College Program to an Independent Diploma Bearing Early College High School Mission College's first priorities are students, their learning, and their success.

7 Mission Early College High School
MECHS would exist as an independent alternative high school Allows Middle College community to successfully classify themselves under a model that better reflects their educational practice Allows students the opportunity to focus their studies in a specific area following an Intensive Pathway of Study (IPS) Would remove the multiple layers of challenges relating to Middle College as a program Would relieve the traditional high schools of the burden of managing the records of - and being accountable for - students who do not take classes on their school campus Mission College's first priorities are students, their learning, and their success.

8 Legal and Organizational Framework
Type of School Public, Comprehensive Early College modeled with targeted criteria for enrollment where all graduates leave with an A.A./A.S. Specialized Focus: Students at-risk for educational failure/ underserved demographic populations. Small Learning Communities based upon student’s chosen Intensive Pathways of Study (IPS) Flexible student groupings that target skill remediation to grade level, focused nurturing of innate leadership skills, and creation/execution of a viable post-secondary plan Mission College's first priorities are students, their learning, and their success.

13 Facilities Impact Mission College Premises:
Currently, Mission College provides two classrooms and an office space between the classrooms in the Gillmor Center for the exclusive use of the current SCUSD Mission Middle College program In consideration of the Growth Proposal for Middle College, Mission College has indicated openness to continue to provide the dedicated space in the Gillmor Center, along with the consideration of additional shared space (classroom and/or office), based on availability, as requested by MECHS Mission College's first priorities are students, their learning, and their success.

14 Inter-Agency Collaboration
Meetings with SCUSD and Mission College Develop a new MOU for the Mission Early College High School Strengthen the existing partnership between SCUSD and Mission College Enhance and align Common Core Standards to Student Learning Outcomes Mission College's first priorities are students, their learning, and their success.
