AN INDEPENDENT clause is a group of words that also contains a subject and a verb (A SENTENCE) – CAN STAND ALONE A  DEPENDENT clause  is a group of words that is MISSING a SUBJECT or PREDICATE or BOTH. DEPENDENT CLAUSE INDEPENDENT CLAUSE
