Finding Home By Capri Campardo
2
Along the cold, rainy coast of British Columbia lived a wolf named Alkina. She was part of a very large pack.

Many of the wolves were quite selfish and weren’t very kind
Many of the wolves were quite selfish and weren’t very kind. Alkina’s parents raised her differently than all the other wolves. They were very generous and kind.
4
She couldn’t put up with the wolves any longer so she decided it was time to leave the pack. She said farewell to her parents and set off on a journey to find a new home.
5
Alkina traveled through harsh rains and the odd snow fall
Alkina traveled through harsh rains and the odd snow fall. It was the time in winter where spring begins to creep up and the snow begins to melt away and the sun seems to warm the ice on the lakes. However, the snow and rain still chill to the core and the wind brings the cold throughout the forest to take all the warmth away.

After days of traveling Alkina grew tired and hungry
After days of traveling Alkina grew tired and hungry. She found a small cave under a rock ledge. She ran into the cave to get some shelter from the harsh winds where to snow felt like little rocks being thrown at her skin.

She woke up the next morning to a deep growling noise
She woke up the next morning to a deep growling noise. She became fearful. She was to weak to run fast enough to get away. A brown figure began to appear out of the corner of the cave. With every step the figure became larger and larger.

When the figure stepped into the light Alkina took a breath of relief
When the figure stepped into the light Alkina took a breath of relief. A brown bear walked up to her and with a big smile on her face said “hello, my name is Mayra!” “Hello,” she replied “my name is Alkina. I’m sorry for sleeping in your cave I just really needed some shelter.”
9
“Don’t worry about that
“Don’t worry about that. I’ve just woken up from my hibernation and it feels good to see a friendly face after being asleep for so long.” Alkina’s stomach began to growl as her smiled faded into a frown. Mayra noticed and suggested that they go out for some food.
10
They went to the river and caught some salmon
They went to the river and caught some salmon. Once they returned to the cave they began to eat. Mayra was curious as to why Alkina was so far up north since her wolf pack was south of British Columbia. So Alkina explained her story and her journey to get here. “You can always stay here with me and my friends! They aren’t awake yet but you can meet them once they are and you will have a place to stay and be happy here.”
11
Alkina thought long and hard but once she met Mayra’s friends she knew that this was the home for her!
