7 Planning Your Campaign
Campaign materials delivered to your school Campaign window Feb 6 – April 7, 2017 Choose a week for your school or campaign for the entire campaign window Use poster to publicize dates A box of campaign materials is en route to your school. In this box you’ll find all the materials necessary to plan your campaign. Campaign dates are Feb 16 – April 8, 2016, but you can choose one week in that window and inform the rest of the teachers of this week. Use the poster to publicize these dates. We’ll talk more about other campaign materials later.

9 Petitioning Students Students are given envelopes for contributions
Teachers are given envelopes to collect contributions Letter to parents with student donation envelope Distribute these materials to teachers In your box of campaign materials you’ll find several envelopes. These materials need to be distributed to the teachers and students in your school prior to the start of your campaign. Each teacher should receive 1 classroom envelope and a student donation envelope for each student in their class. These student donation envelopes should be sent home with the students accompanied by the letter to parents and guardians located on page 11 of the Coordinator’s Training Handbook.

1.00 .78 .65 .65 <ANIMATION> Students simply put a check mark next to the organization they would like to give to and fill in the amount.  It’s very important that each student receive this envelope because students donate approximately $200,000 every year through these envelopes! Some students even bring back envelopes multiple times. The students will be instructed by their teachers to turn in their envelopes every day of the campaign. Total amount in envelope should be $3.73 .65

11 Student Sticker Given to all elementary school and early education center students Note: each elementary school student and early education center student should receive a Sharing Brings Hope sticker to thank them for their support of the campaign. Even students who are not able to donate should receive a sticker.

12 Classroom Envelope Mrs. Smith Room 456 Afterwards, the teacher will tally up the amounts for each organization and fill out the classroom envelope. Teachers, Faculty and Administrators can give Cash or check Payroll deduction Payroll giving card Teachers/Faculty and Administrators have the options of giving by one time gift or by payroll deduction. Either way, they will use the payroll giving card to make their contributions. Instructions can be found on pages 16 and 17 in your Coordinator’s Training Handbook.

On the Sharing Brings Hope Website you will find most of what you need. The charitable agencies tab is a great way to find a list of charities that are affiliated with the one you see on our materials. There is also a letter in Spanish and English that can be sent to parents in Word doc format for your use. If you prefer to fax in a materials request or a speaker request please see pages 8 and 10 in your Coordinator’s Handbook. The Art and Essay Contest is a tool that can be used to publicize the campaign and make it fun for students

19 How to Make the Ask It starts with you! Be the first to make a gift and then ask others to join you! For your students – ensure all of them have coin envelopes. For teachers/faculty/administrators ask everyone, one by one, to give so that everyone has an opportunity to bring hope to LAUSD families. NOTE: Most people don’t give because they are not asked. Don’t just put a payroll card in their mailbox – MAKE IT PERSONAL. Share a reason why you give. Follow up with colleagues. Ask the charity liaisons to speak at a staff meeting on your behalf.
