2 2017 Orinda Paving Project Measure J & L Repairs – approximately $8.5M
Residential Streets are funded by City’s 2014 Measure J Funds ($20 million general obligation bond) & 2012 Measure L ½ cent sale tax increase that provides approximately $1 million each year Annual Pavement Repairs – approximately $1M Work on Collector & Arterial Streets are funded by Gas Tax and Countywide Transportation Sales Tax Return-to- Source (RTS) funds Streets selected through City’s Pavement Management Program and recommended for construction by the Citizen’s Infrastructure Oversight Commission and approved by the City Council

4 2017 Orinda Paving Project 65 Streets all over the City
Split into 5 Packages Work includes: Drainage improvements – ditches, inlet & pipe work Full Depth Reclamation of Roadways (FDR) New Pavement Construction Re-installation of Pavement Delineation Preliminary Utility Relocations, prior to FDR Work Home Owner Responsibilities Prior to Construction: Verification of Sewer Lateral – Notices Sent Check / Clean Drainage Systems Trim Vegetation back from edge of roadway Only a rough schedule is known at this time Two more years of Roadway Improvements scheduled for the summers of 2018 & 2019 Maps are available

5 2017 Orinda Paving Project Drainage Improvements will be performed first Work will follow a geographical order Work Includes Full and Partial Replacement of: Storm Drain Pipes Concrete Curbs & Lined Ditches Asphalt Dikes & Curbs

6 2017 Orinda Paving Project What is Full Depth Reclamation?
2 Week Notice Posted and a 3-day Notice by a Door Hanger Complete Drainage Improvements and any Utility Relocations first Pulverize existing roadway to a 12- inch depth, half the roadway width at a time to maintain access Remove approximately 3-inches of pulverized material Treat with cement, add water & mix Grade and compact Cure for 3-7 days with temporary driveway ramps in place 3-inch of AC Paving to complete VIDEO NEXT SLIDE

7 2017 Orinda Paving Project Schedule – when will the work take place on my street? Current tentative schedule will be to start in Package 4 & 5, provided PG&E work meets their current schedule Most traffic in these areas Miner Road Closure Then move to Packages 1 through 3 Generic Schedule Information: April/May/June: start-up, pothole utilities, survey May/June/July: drainage improvements June/July: FDR work for Package 4 July/Aug: FDR work for Package 5 Aug/Sept: FDR work for Package 3 Sept/Oct: FDR work for Package 2 Oct/Nov: FDR work for Package 1

8 Why Replace My Lateral? Root intrusion can quickly clog your sewer. Sags allow grease & debris to settle & accumulate forming a blockage. Most homeowners insurance plans don’t cover the costs of a sewer backup. Not sure if you have a problem… - Get a video inspection of your lateral.
