1 Math Clock Project Vallery © It’s All in the Numbers

2 You are going to be creating your very own Math Clock
You are going to be creating your very own Math Clock! You will create equations and expressions that give you the answers 1 through 12 to put on the clock. I had one of these I bought from Amazon hanging on my wall all year so my students knew what it was. If you have one of these clocks, talk to the students about it or refer to it. 3 This project will cover many concepts we have learned this year
This project will cover many concepts we have learned this year. Your clock will need: 3 Order of Operations with whole numbers 3 Order of Operations with integers 3 One step Equations 1 Rational number operation 2 Proportions The clock can be more focused- using it to review a basic concept, or it can be at the end of the year covering multiple concepts. 4 Here are some student examples
Here are some student examples. The one on the left is even a working clock!! Students were provided: Colored pencils, markers, brads, post-it notes, thick paper, Some students brought glitter glue and googly eyes. Students traced the clock using the top of a stool or trash can. The clocks had a 12in diameter approximately. Vallery © It’s All in the Numbers

5 Take a look at the Rubric to see how you will be graded on this project.
You will have 4 days to complete your 12 expressions, and 1 day to decorate and finish your clock. You will first solve all the math problems in order to fill in your clock pieces. Vallery © It’s All in the Numbers

9 You will pick your problems for the following problems
Let’s try solve an order of operations problem (A) with an answer of 12. You will need to pick 3 of these problems from this section Now what if we wanted it to have integers instead (B)? You will need to pick 3 problems from this section Look at rational operation (D) You will need 1 problem from this section. Vallery © It’s All in the Numbers

10 Some more examples Look at one step equation problem (C). You will need to pick three problems from this section. Look at proportion section (E). You will need to use 2 problems from this section. Vallery © It’s All in the Numbers

15 You will first solve problems provided for you to pick from
You will first solve problems provided for you to pick from. Once you have fully answered all the problems and you are sure it works, then find the box that has that same answer and write your problem there. (So if the answer is 7, put it for problem 7 on your work. You will need to pick 3 questions from Section A,B and C. 1 question from Section D 2 question from Section E Vallery © It’s All in the Numbers

16 Be very Selective You can use post its to help you move the problems around.
