5 Theme and learning experiences
Our new theme will begin next week The flow chart will be sent out soon Regular details will be posted on Edmodo If you have any expertise in these areas, we would love to hear about it!

6 Learning Zone Children taught in small focus groups with chance for independent learning. Maths and English (including spelling) every day. Children taught by all teaching staff, depending on their group, which is flexible. Children have a checklist of activities to complete during their independent time, e.g. Big Question, reading activity. Plenty of structures and scaffolds in place to enable children to be successful and cope with the change in approach. High expectations set which are monitored rigorously by teachers.

7 Foundation subject rotation
Typical day TUESDAY REGISTER Maths groups BREAK Literacy groups LUNCH Spelling (1.30 – 1.50) Foundation subject rotation Story time

8 School Improvement Priorities
Embedding the Learning Zones across the school. Rigorous monitoring of all learning to ensure high standards are maintained and improved upon. Focus on developing all children’s confidence in maths and their understanding of core mathematical principles and how to apply these in different contexts. For year 5 and 6, develop resilience in test conditions. Further develop the school grounds and environment to support inspiring science learning. Embed the use of ICT as learning tool.

9 ICT opportunities There are regular opportunities to use a range of software through day to day learning and research Mathletics and Edmodo are portals at home that will continue to be used E-safety will continue to be a big aspect of Computing teaching and learning – the appropriacy of online communication, keeping passwords safe and protecting personal information to name just three strands Please reinforce these messages at home

10 Spelling Spelling is taught across the phase in small groups
Learning will be based around specific rules. However, for the first half term, children will be focusing on key words that sometimes don’t fit spelling rules and that are commonly misspelt in writing. Tests will be happening every other week. This is to ensure that the words and rules are embedded.
