2 Figure 1 (A) The complete testing system showing the thermography set above the sample. (B) A close-up of the cracked teeth vibrated with an ultrasonic scaler. (C) This figure shows a view from above the root canal surface. The detection angle is the angle between the crack and the ultrasonic vibration point. , the center of the root canal orifice; , the detection angle; , the crack; , the ultrasonic vibration point. 3 Figure 2 (A) The root before vibration with the ultrasonic scaler. (B) The dentinal microcrack shows a rise in temperature with vibration. (C) Magnification of the microcrack in B. (D–F) The controls without microcracks. (D) The root before vibration with the ultrasonic scaler. (E) The microcracks are not detected with vibration. (F) A magnified image of E. 4 Figure 3 Evaluation of the detection angle and the detection time. The higher the ultrasonic power, the shorter the detection time. However, evaluation of the ultrasonic power shows no significant difference in the detection time. There is a significant difference between a and b, c and d, and e and f. Crack was not detected below 0.63 W at 60°. Label g was not paired for SD. Detection time in 0.80 W at 60° is very long; some microcracks could not be detected on thermography and are not suitable for consideration.
