2 Introduction: Purpose & Benefits of Team Collaboration
Although I did this project by myself, there are definitely great benefits of team collaboration with lesson plans: Able to get multiple ideas and perspectives about lesson integration ideas Able to edit one another’s work Able to assist one another in finding resources “Teaching in a collaborative environment allows educators to divide up the tasks at hand, making classroom activities more manageable. Additionally, according to the Center for Teaching at Vanderbilt University, teaching collaboratively provides a means for the exchanging of ideas. For example, teachers can share lesson planning ideas or specific classroom activities during weekly meetings or discuss the positive and negative parts of a project for the other educators to learn from.” from The Advantages of Collaboration in Education by Erica Loop, studioD html Image from:

7 Conclusion As teachers, we CAN integrate the Arts into any of the four subject area State Standards! Integration of the arts (music, theater, visual arts, and dance) not only provides more breadth of content learned, but also depth into the level of activities and information students learn. As students use the arts in math, reading, science and social studies, they are elevating their learning into the higher levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy, where they are creating and evaluating ideas and content, leading to higher retention and understanding of information. I plan to integrate the arts into my lesson as much as possible with my elementary students! Image from:
