4 Senior phase S4 Curriculum Structure
All courses will build on prior learning from Broad General Education (BGE) English and Maths compulsory Health & Well-being - Reg, PSE, PE & RME Choice of four subjects

6 6 subjects for S4 Each NQ course requires 160 hours. Provides sufficient time for each subject. Allows for specialisation and progression Supports increased depth of study There is an option to apply for a college course in Engineering, Construction, Hair & Beauty, Computer Games Development, Introduction to Employability Skills, TV Production and Sound Production with DJ Skills

9 S4-S6 Senior phase Timetabled as a Single Group
Increases the choice of subjects and the combination of subjects on offer Allows for efficiency when timetabling More flexible progression routes Allows S5/6 students to do 5 subjects for 6 periods Continues with consortium arrangements

10 Course Qualifications
Courses will be offered from Nat 3 – Nat 5 National 3 & National 4 are graded internally with no external exam – Pass/Fail National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher are graded A – D with external assessment

Cybersecurity is not available for S4 Students – available in S5/6

How do you like to learn? Where could they take you? What subjects do you enjoy? What subjects are you good at?

14 Things to avoid It’s easy to choose subjects for the wrong reasons, too. Avoid picking subjects just because: You like the teacher – the teacher may change There isn’t much homework – that will change Your friends are taking the subject – it might be right for them, but not for you

15 Changes to National 5 Assessment
Internal Unit Assessments for N5 will be removed Session 2017/18 These changes will result one of the following – Extension of the existing question paper Extension/modification of the existing item of coursework A new question paper A new item of coursework

All subjects are open to all students College takes place in core time – Wed pm Choose subjects that you will do well in Choose subjects which are right for your pathway Consider a broad range of subjects as you may change your mind about your pathway Write down any subject choice that you would like, but doesn’t allow on the form

S3 Parents’ Meeting - Wednesday 1/3/17 Individual pupil interviews with Guidance team from 2/3/17 Completed option form signed and returned to Guidance Teacher 10/3/17 Choices confirmed April/May 2017 New timetable 5/6/17
