4 Welcome to Dwelling Places
Dwelling Places is run by a lady called Rita. Dwelling Places helps children and families who are living on the streets, or in poor areas called slums.

5 Street Children... A child who has no home.
The child lives on the streets instead. What is a street child? There are lots of reasons, for example, One or both of their parents may not be well One or both parents may have died Their parents or family may not look after them well They may be very poor and have no money and no house People in the area they come from may be fighting each other and it’s not safe There may be no food or water where they live Why do children live on the streets?

6 Some live on their own Some find friends to live with Some live with family, like brothers, sisters or cousins Some live with their parents Do the children live by themselves? They find a place to sleep at night time, for example, Up a tree In a shop doorway Where do the children sleep at night?

7 They do different tasks, for example,
Begging Collecting old water bottles to sell for recycling Stealing Going through rubbish bins to find food How do the children survive? Sadly, yes there are lots of dangers, for example, Hunger Getting hurt Getting ill And many more Is it dangerous for the children?

Dwelling Places follows four steps when helping the children. Welcome to Dwelling Places Step 1: Find the children that do not have a home, and let them live in Dwelling Places’ home
