1 Absolute and Relative Location Latitude and Longitude Hemispheres

2 Warm up: Type 1: In at least three lines, completely discuss how a person uses lines of longitude and latitude to determine a specific location (What do you do first? What are the step? What directions do you go? Can you give an example?)

3 Absolute and Relative Location
Why is “location” important?

4 Absolute Location What is it? the exact point where a place is located
(often given in terms of latitude and longitude)

5 Absolute Location Examples:
Havertown, Pennsylvania is located at degrees north (latitude), degrees west (longitude) Haverford Middle School is located at Darby Road Havertown, PA
