1 Essential Oils in Pregnancy, Labor, and Post-Partum
Young Living Essential Oils, Kim Prather, Silver Distributor Modern science confirms that whatever the mother puts into her body will be transferred to her baby through the umbilical cord! 1/3 of all births in the US in 2004 ended up in a C-section! Longer recovery and more risks for mother and baby. DISCLAIMER: The information provided in this presentation is for educational purposes only. 2 Essential Oils vs. Drugs
Natural vs. Synthetic (Complex vs. Simplistic) Pennies per drop vs. big bucks! Oils treat the problem; drugs treat or mask symptoms Prescription drugs are the 4th leading cause of death in US When used properly, essential oils are safe with virtually no side effects.

3 Essential Oils Penetrate Cells
Bacteria reside outside the cell/viruses reside inside the cell. Pharmaceuticals cannot penetrate the cell membrane – but they can mask symptoms. Essential Oils can penetrate the cell membrane and eliminate both bacteria and viruses. Drugs depress the immune system. Oils strengthen the immune system. Essential oils have a unique ability to penetrate cell membranes and diffuse throughout the blood and tissues. The unique, lipid-soluble structure of essential oils is very similar to the make up of our cell membranes. The molecules of essential oils are also relatively small, which enhances their ability to penetrate into the cells. When topically applied, essential oils can travel throughout the body in a matter of minutes. Research indicates that when essential oils are diffused, they can increase atmospheric oxygen and provide negative ions, which in turn inhibits bacterial growth. Because of their ionizing action, essential oils have the ability to break down potentially harmful chemicals and render them nontoxic. European scientists have studied the ability of essential oils to work as natural chelators, binding with heavy metals and petrochemicals and ferrying them out of the body.” Drugs and oils work in opposite ways. Drugs toxify. Oils detoxify. Drugs clog and confuse receptor sites. Oils clean receptor sites. Drugs depress the immune system. Oils strengthen the immune system. Antibiotics attack bacteria indiscriminately, killing both the good and the bad. Oils attack only the harmful bacteria, allowing our body’s friendly flora to flourish. Drugs are one-dimensional, programmed like robots to carry out certain actions in the body, whether the body can benefit from them or not. When body conditions change, drugs keep on doing what they were doing, even when their actions are no longer beneficial. Essential oils are multi-dimensional, filled with homeostatic intelligence to restore the body to a state of healthy balance. When body conditions change, oils adapt, raising or lowering blood pressure as needed, stimulating or repressing enzyme activity as needed, energizing or relaxing as needed. Oils are smart. Drugs are dumb. Drugs are designed to send misinformation to cells or block certain receptor sites in order to trick the body into giving up symptoms. But drugs never deal with the actual causes of disease. They aren’t designed for that purpose. While they may give prompt relief for certain uncomfortable symptoms, because of their strange, unnatural design, they will always disrupt certain other bodily functions. Thus, you always have some side effects.

4 Basics & First Aid Always have a carrier oil close by
Keep essential oils away from the eyes and the eye area. DO NOT USE WATER! Be sure to test the oil before using a large amount. Before ingesting essential oil or applying to your skin, know and trust your source. Most oils contain chemicals that may be dangerous and toxic. I only recommend Young Living Essential Oils because of their purity and quality

Indigestion Peppermint, Lemon, Ginger, Di-Gize I loved using peppermint!  I tried different ways, but for me, the best way was to put 2-3 drops on a cracker and eat it quickly.  I would follow it up with water with Lemon Essential Oil.  Worked every time! 6 Labor Oils Moving Things Along Align Mom’s Hips and Help Her Relax
Clary Sage, Fennel, Ylang Ylang, SclarEssence Align Mom’s Hips and Help Her Relax At delivery, align mother’s hips by applying Valor along inside and bottom of feet, this will relieve anxiety. Breech or Posterior Position Breech: Peppermint oil to top of stomach in the shape of a rainbow Posterior: Peppermint oil to lower back. Uterine Pain Heated crock-pot with drops of lavender During transition, apply Frankincense to abdomen in a carrier oil or on warm washcloth as described above Moving Things Along Clary Sage, Fennel, Ylang Ylang Rub on your belly or just open up the bottle and inhale. Increase and Strengthen Contractions: To increase and strengthen contractions, apply Clary Sage around the inside of ankles. Others have applied the essential oil, along with a carrier oil, directly to the abdomen. Some have found that taking one drop of Clary Sage internally in a glass of milk or almond milk every hour or so during labor is very affective for thinning and dilating the cervix. Still others prefer taking a few drops of Clary Sage in a capsule. WARNING: Do not use copious amounts! Large amounts can cause placenta abruption. May induce labor. Not for use during pregnancy. Align Mom’s Hips and Help Her Relax At delivery, align mother’s hips by applying Valor along inside and bottom of feet to calm anxiety. Breech or Posterior Position • Breech: Peppermint oil to top of stomach in the shape of a rainbow • Posterior: Peppermint oil to lower back. Pain Management Uterine Pain Keep a heated crockpot filled with purified water and a dozen wash cloths. Make sure the water is hot (but not too hot to handle). Place drops of Lavender in water. Have someone assigned to keeping a steady flow of warm, wrung out, wash cloths to place across the mother’s belly during contractions. As soon as it cools, replace with a new cloth. Lavender is very helpful for dulling and easing uterine pain; but, it is also good for relieving back and leg pains. In addition, it is a balancing and calming oil that can help to relax the body and ease mother’s anxiety. It restores emotional balance, and may also strengthen contractions. During transition, apply Frankincense to abdomen in a carrier oil or on warm washcloth as described above. SclarEssence-Dr. LeAnne recommends using a few drops of ScarEssence per day in the last month of pregnancy to prepare for labor. Take up to 25 drops orally to get things really moving once in labor!
