What is on offer? A flexible, innovative and practice focused leadership development programme that provides university accreditation at; Level 6 - Graduate Certificate in Professional Learning Level 7 - MA Education (Leadership, Learning and Teaching, Equity in Education) An opportunity for teachers to engage with professional learning that is focused on improving their generic leadership knowledge and skills as well as providing routes for those interested in leading learning and teaching and equity in education. Within the MA Education, there is a generic pathway as well as routes for those interested in ALN and Language and Literacy Leadership Development Opportunities at UWTSD

4 Why should teachers engage in this programme?
It provides a flexible route which is closely related to practice; it recognises and accredits school based practice; It allows teachers to progress quickly to level 7 (Masters) accreditation in a supportive and structured way – which can be tailored to need; It has been designed and will be delivered in partnership with schools in order to ensure that the very best practice is at the heart of the learning and that this is shared through the programme; It is research informed and will support teachers to engage with evidence based practice, research and critical reflection; Through the work of participating teachers, it is intended to have impact on the outcomes of learners and on school improvement. 5 What will be expected of participants?
Attendance at school based sessions where they will engage in sessions delivered by host schools and university tutors; Involvement in Learning Visits to other schools in order to engage with and reflect on effective practice Interaction and learning in Trust Groups which provide peer support and challenge as well as provide opportunities to share practice Completion of assignments which are primarily focused on existing responsibilities and working practices; they are linked to school improvement tasks and reflect specific school contexts and challenges. What are the benefits of involvement in the programme – for the individual? An opportunity to develop personally and professionally and gain University accreditation at level 7 (Masters level); Professional development that will help you gain promotion and take on leadership responsibilities – including learning and teaching; Alignment with the National Leadership Standards to support you as you progress in your career; An opportunity to broaden your insight into effective practice and to have an impact in your classroom and school; Engagement with a unique programme that combines outstanding practice, an academic framework for learning and accreditation and school to school and peer learning. What are the benefits of involvement in the programme – for the school? Greater capacity to drive forward school improvement initiatives; Teachers and leaders who are equipped with knowledge of effective practice, research and the skills to bring about improvements; Outcomes of professional learning which are in line with key Welsh Government policies such as Successful Futures, Qualified for Life and Rewriting the Future; Motivated, enthusiastic staff who are engaged with leading edge research and practice and who want to lead school improvement. What are the costs? For the Graduate Certificate - £350 per module For the MA Education - £375 per module Schools or groups of schools who would like to commission specific programmes or modules please contact the university to discuss costs.
