2 All students will study 2 GCSEs: GCSE English Language GCSE English Literature There will also be a separate award for Speaking & Listening

3 What has changed? 100% terminal examinations – no coursework / controlled assessment Un-tiered papers (no Higher and Foundation) A*-G replaced with 9-1 (4/5 likely to be equivalent to C) Greater focus on grammar, technical accuracy and written style in both GCSEs

4 What will we study for Language GCSE?
Writing to describe and writing to argue and persuade 19th and 20th Century articles and stories

5 A plane crashes on a desert island and the only survivors, a group of schoolboys, assemble on the beach and wait to be rescued. By day they inhabit a land of bright fantastic birds and dark blue seas, but at night their dreams turn to nightmares.

9 What have we done to support year 9 students now?
The end of Year 9 exam was more like the new GCSEs than the old We changed some of the controlled assessments to make them more like the new GCSEs. Our transition unit at the end of year 9 has been all about learning new skills ready for September.
