2. Our Purpose
To establish an effective and efficient, responsible and responsive student government
To be a body of dedicated, proactive leaders
To represent all students and their diverse, ever-changing needs
To retain the sole authority to appoint and remove student representation to all university standing committees and advisory boards
To ensure the conveyance of the student voice to university governing bodies, the administration, and the Board of Trustees in matters of institutional policies

3. University Committees
Faculty Governance
moves the University forward
sets policies
investigates campus issues
One or more seats are reserved for students on each University Committee
Student Senate appoints students to the seats through an application process
Allows student voice to be heard at the faculty level
Exs. University Academic Senate, Faculty Facilities Planning, University Curriculum Committee, Faculty Salaries and Budget, General Education Committee, University Judiciary Committee

4. Conveying the Student Voice
Communicate with students to discover relevant student issues
Work with administration to address student concerns
Write, discuss, and vote on “resolutions,” which state the official student opinion
Share resolutions with relevant university officials, offices, and the Board of Trustees

6. How to Get Involved Share an issue or concern!
Stop by the senate office, visit our OrgSync or Web page, a cabinet member
Attend a General Assembly meeting and speak at public comment Thursdays at 4:30 in Pere Marquette
Join a University Committee!
Submit an application on OrgSync under “forms”
Run for Elections!
Packets become available on February 24th
Packets are due on March 17th
Online voting from March 23rd-March 29th
Cast your vote during Elections!
