A Struggle Over Lands Native Americans in the Northwest Territory wanted to keep their lands During the 1780’s, many attacked American settlements

Problem… Many Native Americans opposed western settlements American leaders believed that the country’s future depended on settling its western lands Proposed Solution… By 1790, the United States bought Native American lands in Kentucky Tennessee
