-Students will learn and practice classroom procedures and routines.

6. Entering the classroom:
Greet the teacher in Spanish and shake her hand
Come in silently and begin the warm-up (calentamiento)
Take out your homework and supplies for the class
If you are tardy sign in and begin working.

7. Class materials Supplies required: 1 inch binder 5-tab dividers
Loosely paper for binder (100 sheets)
Scissors
Markers
Writing utensils
Supplies that are not required but would really benefit our classroom:
Tissue box
Hand sanitizer

8. Class expectations
Follow the social contract. The class will build a social contract that will state how they want to be treated by teacher, each other and how they will treat leader and classmates.
Learn and follow all routines and procedures. In order to have a safe and fun learning environment you will need to know and follow all classroom procedures.
Se habla español en la clase. I do not expect you to speak perfectly or fluently, but as the year progresses, you should be able to ask and respond to questions in Spanish
Organization is KEY. It is very beneficial to have a system in place to keep order to your assignments. For some, a notebook will be a very effective way to keep order in your Spanish.
Bring your materials to class. Every day you will need your Spanish materials. You need these tools to adequately perform in class.

9. Department grading policy
The grading policy at Austin High School is:
50% Major grades: tests, projects, and presentations
50% Minor grades: quizzes, individual practices, daily grades.
Late work
For Major grades
One calendar day late: grade can be up to maximum of 90
Two calendar days late: grade can be up to maximum of 80
Three calendar days late: grade can be up to maximum of 70
More than three calendar days late: maximum grade of 60

10. Department grading policy
For Minor grades
One calendar day late: maximum of 80
More than one calendar day late: Maximum grade of 70
If the answers for an assignment have already been reviewed in class, the teacher will assign the student a 50 or alternate assignment.
All work must be turned in by the penultimate week of each 6 weeks grading period. I will not accept work after that time period.
Retest
Students receiving a grade of 79 or below on a test will be allowed to retest for up to a maximum grade of 80, provided that the student comes in for tutoring.

12. Remind
I will be using remind to remind you of important deadlines. Please follow instructions to sign up to receive reminders.
Your first homework assignment is to get the first page of the syllabus signed.

13. Restroom:
Students will be given 2 restroom passes during the six weeks that can be turned in for extra credit at the end of the grading period. Only three students can leave the class during a class period. You must sign out when you use your pass.
2 restroom passes = drop one quiz grade (grade cannot be lower than a 50)
1 restroom pass = drop one minor grade (homework, classwork, etc..)

14. Electronic devices
Phones and other electronic devices are not allowed in the classroom. In case of an emergency a student will have access to the classroom phone. Texting is not allowed nor is the use of ear phones to listen to music. I provide Spanish music daily from many for the students to listen to.
Phones will be picked up until the end of class. If we need to use technology I will provide chrome books for students to use.

15. Leaving class:
Stay seated until the teacher dismisses your section.
