1 Pupil Development Plan
Riston Primary School Pupil Development Plan Presented by the School Council.

2 To have challenging lessons in Maths that help us to reason and solve problems.
We have started using Sumdog – these are games that make learning fun. We can use this at school and at home. Every lesson we work through fluency, reasoning and problem solving skills. We have a marking code that we use in every lesson. Our teachers give us a wish when they are marking. This is a little challenge to help us to make progress.

4 To have opportunities to read, share and develop our skills as readers and writers.
We have two library clubs every week. We are working hard to improve our choice of books. We have changed the school day and have guided reading every morning. We now have time for peer critique. This is when we share our writing and have chance to make improvements. We are given plenty of time to learn from a WAGOLL in writing. (a WAGOLL is ‘What a good one looks like!’)

6 To work together to improve the outdoor learning space for the Robins.
We asked volunteers to help and lots of people came to clear and tidy the space. They also helped to build and move equipment. This was a big help. It was also very cold and wet! The rotten fence has gone and the wall has been repaired. The PTFA are helping us to fund raise for more equipment. They are also asking Hornsea Lions to help. We are still working to improve this area.

8 To make sure everybody knows how to be safe and who can help them.
We have posters around the school to tell us who we can go to if we need help. We are reminded in worship to always talk to an adult if we have a problem or worry. We have just appointed digital leaders. They are responsible for the computers and ipads in the classrooms. They are in charge of e-safety too. They will be working on this more in the future. We have a fire practice every term. This term we managed to evacuate safely in half the time it took in the Autumn Term! Highfliers had a visit from the road safety team and completed a pedestrian course. In all our IT lessons we make sure we talk about e-safety and know how to keep safe online. We help plan our Educational Visits to make sure we understand the rules of how to be safe when we are outside of school.

10 To use our Christian values in all that we do.
As a school council we listen to others and share their views. So far we have improved playtimes and lunchtimes and introduced equipment for play and games. We have launched lunchtime clubs. We have helped to support and arrange fundraising activities. We have requested and been successful in changing the school daily timetable. We have worked hard by helping in our playtimes to tidy and organise resources. We have a big question every week in Worship. This is when we think about our Christian Values. At the moment we are thinking about courage. We have led an anti-bullying week and put the work on a display in school. We have written the Pupil School Development plan!
