2. Ayanna Ade Ayanna Ade was a doctor based in Houston Texas.
She was born as Ayanna Nsombi Ade on March 13, 1951 in Houston Texas.
She joined the Houston Chapter of the Black Panther Party in 1974.

3. Her Occupation/Contributions
In 1974, she went to Oakland, California and taught Biology at Oakland Community School.
Four years later, she returned to Houston and became a nurse.
During her time at Columbia University School Of Nursing in New York, she received her Masters Degree in Midwifery.
She is known to have delivered several hundred babies who referred to her as “Mama Ayanna”.

4. Her Legacy
Known as Sister Comrade Ayanna Ade Johnson, she was a great humanitarian and was respected by many people in many places.
Ayanna Ade died from what was known as breast cancer in May of at the age of 62.
Her funeral was held at the SHAPE Community Center in Houston, Texas.

5. Rest In Peace
Ayanna was a role model. With her masters degree in midwifery, her bachelors degree in nursing and a bachelors degree in biology, she helped women give birth to their babies. Not only was she a midwife but she also joined the Houston Chapter of the Black Panther Party. She was loved by the people in her community until she died in May 2013 to what many people believe may have been breast cancer. Even to this day, Sister Ayanna Nsambi Ade continues to inspire people in her community.
