2 Seminar Agenda: Differences in Infrastructure design for data verses video security networks: Data Considerations Bandwidth Requirements Packet size differences PoE Differences Overview of PoE Surge elements 803.2at verse 802.3at Detection pulse differences 60 watt considerations: The dual PD Cable limitations Why coax is limited Are specifications real? Differences in data specifications and IP Video requirements Packet size standards PoE ranges Why Vigitron?

3 What are the challenges facing IP CCTV systems?
Bandwidth: As resolution of megapixel cameras increase, so does the need for higher packet sizes. As the need for more images per second and dual streaming is increasing, so does the need for higher bandwidth. Power: As camera features such as day/night, auto back focus, LED operation, and PTZ increase the required power increases too.

4 What affects the IP Video Bandwidth?
Picture Size Determined by MP Size and Codec Number of Pictures Per Second Network Overheads

5 Important Note: Network product testing is done at 64 Bytes
Bandwidth and Packet Size Limitations Most IP cameras output IP 100Mbps, locking the network switch port to the same data rate. Average <2MP Average 2MP -33MP Standard Frames Jumbo Frame 1518 bytes 1518 bytes 9600 bytes All High resolution IP cameras transmit “Jumbo” Ethernet 100Mbps. Important Note: Network product testing is done at 64 Bytes

6 PoE Standards: IEEE 802.3af vs. IEEE 802.3at
15.4W PoE Source 12.95W at Camera Class 0-3 PoE levels at Camera Requires a detection pulse Min 37V at the PoE camera IEEE 802.3at 30W PoE Source 25.5W at Camera Class 0-4 PoE levels at Camera Requires a detection pulse and a Classification pulse Min 42.5V at the PoE camera

7 How does PoE Work? Step 1: Detection Pulse
When a PoE camera is plugged into a PoE source such as a PoE switch or a Midspan, the power is off. The PoE source sends a detection pulse to the camera to verify if it is a valid PoE Device. The detection pulse crosses a resistive element at the camera, confirming that it is a valid PoE device. If the PoE source does not see the resistive element in 40ms it assumes that there is no PoE device present. If the PoE camera is 802.3af or 802.3at type 1, after successful detection pulse power will flow to the camera. Response in < 40 ms

8 How does PoE Work? (Continued)
Step 2: Classification Pulse After a successful Detection the IEEE 802.3at type 1 PoE source turns on the power to the camera. A IEEE 802.3at type 2 PoE source needs an extra step and will send a Classification Pulse. The Classification Pulse crosses a resistive element at the camera that indicates the power level that the camera requires. After Classification Pulse the PoE source will allocate as much power as requested by the camera. If the PoE source does not have enough power it will not turn on power to the camera. Step 3: Turn On Power After a successful Detection the PoE source turns on the power to the camera.

9 PoE Safety Features When current that flows from the PoE source to the camera at the “established level”, dramatically increases above this level or exceeding what the switch port can supply, the PoE source will shut down power. Also if the PoE voltage at the camera input falls below the minimum allowed by the 802.3af/at, the Camera PoE circuit will turn of the power. I Video Frames

10 What is unique about Vigitron (continued)
Our products are able to transmit over UTP, Coax, Fiber, and single pair wires. Cat 5e/6 (4 Pair) Coax Fiber 18-2 (2 –Wire)

11 Symmetrical Bandwidth™ (SBW)
Network Bandwidth Symmetrical Bandwidth™ (SBW) Provides the same data rate at both directions. Virtual Zero Packet™ (VZPL) Less than a 2% transmission packet loss measured at the full Jumbo Frame rate of 9,600 bytes.

12 Extended Pass Through POE™
Eliminates the requirement for local power supplies and local power sources. Extended Pass Through POE™ Extends the PTP function up to 60W at the camera location over extended distance UTP.

15 Inter-Operational Testing
Vigitron conducts inter-operational testing to assure quality performance and the ability to help dealers specify the most cost effective, reliable infrastructure solution. Testing is conducted at the highest data rate and PoE power draw. Each test repeated 3 times at every type of compression and measured for power surges. Data is recorded and used by our Design Center Engineering staff to help you with your specific requirements.

18 What does “Extended Distance Transmission” mean?
The maximum distance for standard Ethernet is 328ft/100m. Any distance beyond 100m is considered to be “Extended Distance”. The Vigitron extenders over Coax: IP Video + PoE up to 3,000 feet IP Video only up to 5,000 feet The Vigitron extenders over UTP: IP Video + 60W PoE up to 1,200 feet IP Video at Class 4 (30W) up to 1,500 feet IP Video af Class 3 (15.4W) up to 2,500 feet The Vigitron extenders over Single Pair/Alarm wires: IP Video up to 1,700 feet Fiber Media Converters: Depends on SFP- Vigitron Ethernet to IP Video at Class 4 (30W)

19 What is a “Midspan”? Midspan is a device that receives Ethernet data and adds PoE to it. Vigitron PoE Midspans offer: Design center support All ports provide current limit for protection and automatic reset Port power up to 74W for 60W PTZ cameras Coax power up to maximum of 37W on all ports Port polling for protection with <40ms response time over 16 ports – fast shut down and reboot of cameras Network monitoring of 10 status SNMP and notification. Models with combined UTP and Coax extenders reducing cost and saving rack space

22 Important Note: Network product testing is done at 64 Bytes

23 Switch Fabric The Vi3026 is designed to handle all fully loaded ports.
Many network switches has limited bandwidth switch fabric, resulting in poor video transmission when all ports are used. The Vi3026 provides up to 52Gbits of switch fabric bandwidth or 2x the total bandwidth of all ports, assuring even a fully loaded switch with the highest Mega Pixel cameras will pass video without any distortions.

24 Virtual Stacking Vigitron switches can be installed anywhere on the network, controlled view, and provide alerts from one single location. Virtual Stacking provides a cost effective way to design systems for up to 192 cameras. Vi3026 or Vi3326 Vi3010 Vi3010 Vi3010

25 PoE Protection On start up, each port is polled. If an short or overpower condition is present, the port shuts down to prevent any damage and will automatically retry up to 3 times. PoE can be applied to each port with a configurable delay over a 5 minute duration to prevent a surge that can stress the switch’s power supply.

26 PoE Connection Connections can be set to 4 or 2 point detection pulse, or both, assuring a connection regardless of which type the camera responds to. If PoE connection is lost, the switch will automatically try a re-connection up to 3 times which prevents costly service calls.
