4 ASVAB Testing Still unsure about your career plans? Sign up for the ASVAB on November 8th. This test will help you discover skills and aptitudes for certain jobs. It does not commit you to the military. Sign up in the counseling office.

5 Important Dates November 2: District College Night at the BCTAL 6:00- 8:00 PM. PSAT Exam for National Merit Competition October 19th.

6 Staying Informed Be sure to sign up for reminders from the counseling department through Remind 101 see packet for instructions. Also, the BHS Facebook page is a great source for keeping up with college and scholarship information. Lunch visits with college recruiters.

8 LISTEN for Exemptions from College Tests

9 NCAA Clearinghouse Juniors interested in playing Division I or II sports in college MUST register on-line for the clearinghouse BEFORE recruiters can talk to students or high school coaches. Register at Request your transcript from Mrs. Adams.

A student may earn a performance acknowledgement on their transcript for outstanding performance on any of the following:

Completing at least 12 hours of college credit including dual credit and advanced technical credit. In bilingualism and bi literacy On a college AP Exam On the PSAT, SAT, or ACT For earning a nationally or internationally recognized industry certification.

17 TCC Dual Credit Great Deal Cost
Approximately $177 per 3 hour course plus textbooks. Requirements: Must show college readiness by having high enough scores on ACT or SAT or by passing the TSI (Texas Success Initiative)

18 TCC Continued Senior year options:
English: You will earn Comp 1, Comp 2, and Brit. Lit credit. 9 hours of college credit upon successful completion of each course. You must complete all 3 courses in English to get the high school credit. Approximately 3 hours for Govt., Econ. College Algebra, and Pre-Cal.

19 Dual Credit BCTAL Dual Credit Accounting at the BCTAL (course is paid for by the BCTAL) 6 hours college credit . Aviation Mechanics fees are also paid for by CTE and so is tool kit.

BCTAL offers a variety of career options, many classes are two periods. You may be able to earn certificates or licensures that will make you more employable.
