Lesson Objective: To know the difference between prejudice and discrimination. To understand why homophobia is wrong.

3 Starter: Why are people treated differently?

4 Learning outcomes All: accurately organise sentences to show that they are examples of prejudice and discrimination. Give 2 simple reasons why Christians believe prejudice is wrong. Most: As above and in addition give 2 reasons why some people should be treated differently. Some: As above but also add your own conclusion supported by a valid reason.

7 There are 4 main types of prejudice and discrimination
There are 4 main types of prejudice and discrimination. Match the examples to the correct key word. Racism = Sexism = Ageism = Homophobia = A man says that women cannot drive! A man is called gay because he wears designer clothes! Many years ago black people were not allowed to vote! A man is not given a job because he is too old to work!

8 What’s the difference? Prejudice is a belief that has no basis
Pre = before Judge = make a decision You judge someone without knowing all the facts.

9 Discrimination = An action (usually negative) based on your prejudice.
Give an example of both
