Social enterprise There are 6,620 third sector organisations in the North East, including charities, CICs and Industrial and Provident Societies They have an income of £1.54bn and assets of £2.70bn Last year BE-NE worked with 613 social enterprises. Quarter 1 & Quarter 2 figures for this year are showing a significant upward trend

Business improvement for social enterprise
National research suggests 80% of the business needs of social enterprises are the same as mainstream businesses e.g. advice, information and help to access finance The unique needs of social enterprises tend to be around governance and legal structures, funding and finance requirements, and the role of Trustees BE-NE forms a critical part of this supporting infrastructure, alongside organisations like the North East Social Enterprise Partnership and national Social Enterprise Coalition

Built to Achieve One of nine regional programmes aiming to encourage better access to mainstream enterprise support Key achievements: Programme of Built to Achieve Events Internal training programme for Social Enterprise Champions Creation of the nationally-unique role of Social Enterprise Sector Broker, working with high growth social enterprises Significant year-on-year growth in the number of social enterprise clients we work with

The North East Social Enterprise Framework
Developed in conjunction with 40 organisations representing over 1000 members regionally and delivered through direct consultation with the sector. Aims to draw together the work of all bodies in the social enterprise field to agree actions to address needs. Consists of 7 priority themes: Improvement through Intelligence Growth and Development Funding and Access to Finance Business Support Learning, Education & Personal Development Profile, Message and Marketing Raising the Game
