4 Fate or Freedom Which Do You Choose?
Your life is not controlled by any kind of force Try to control your life and design it to your ideal way of living

5 The Idea of Freedom Designing Insights
acknowledge that there is a difference between life as its typically lived and life as it might be lived change the way of your thinking in order to live close to your ideal way of living instead of allowing yourself to think uncritically in a way that will allow your thinking to be shaped by the forces that are acting upon us.

6 Lifelong learners Passive Learner Active Learner

7 DOMAINS OF KNOWLEDGE Explained by thinking illustrated by thinking
Analyzed by thinking Applied by thinking Transformed by thinking Evaluated by thinking Synthesized by thinking Learned by thinking Discovered by thinking Organized by thinking

8 Recognizing the Dual Logic Of Experience
Objective factors: are the part of experience that we did not generate and we have no control on Subjective factors: are those feelings and emotions someone gains while seeking information.

9 Self-Deception, Insights, and Analyzed Experiences
Human mind is naturally subject to a powerful, self-deception and unconscious egocentricity of mind. Difference between critically analyzed experiences and unanalyzed ones, and the opposition between insight and self- deception. The way we see our experiences is based on our irrational factors By thinking critically, we can reduce our irrational dimensions of the experience.

10 Self-Deception, Insights, and Analyzed Experiences
“Most people are pretty bad at taking advice from others. People don't mind hearing the advice, they just hate to take it.  This is one facet of what psychologists call the 'egocentric bias': the general rule that we think we know better” (Dean, 2012).

11 Facing Contradictions and Inconsistencies
Significance Quality 1-What are the raw facts? What is the most neutral description of the situation Analyze Experience INSIGHTS 2- How am I conceptualizing or interpreting the situation in light of my point of view? How else might it be interpreted? 3- What interests, attitudes, desires, or concerns do I bring to the situation?

12 Social Forces, the Mass Media, and Our Experiences

13 Social Forces, the Mass Media, and Our Experiences
“our new world of digital immersion and multitasking has affected virtually everything from our thought processes and work habits to our capacity for linear thinking and how we feel about ourselves, our friends and even strangers. And it has all happened virtually overnight” (Clinton & Stayer, 2012).

14 Reading Backwards read books that were published in the past like 10 years ago or even 2000 years ago gain a unique perspective of how we see and think about things step outside the box of the stereotypes, judgments and ideologies of our present days. we are ought to gain shared misconception, thought and behaviors that are considered to be “correct” in our present day if we don’t read backwards

15 Implications for the design of your life
If we resist social forces that control our perception, if we become committed into designing our own lives, if we take authority of our own actions and do things based on our beliefs and not the society’s Each person should have his/her own perspective rather then just accepting what the society and media recognize as “accepted”.

16 Reflecting on the past

Sara is an A+ student. She’s always trying to keep her grades that way. Sometimes instead of going out with her friends she stays at home and study or work on her assignments. Sara enjoys studying and working on school stuff, her favorite subjects are math and science. She’s also a member of the school’s physics club, math club as well as chess club.

20 Ask yourself! Do you think that Sara wears glasses?
Do you think that she has friends or weather if she’s popular? Do you think that she has a great sense of humor? Do you think that she behaves awkwardly around people?
