Development NGOs provide services for the poor, run camps and activities and work in tribal areas Health NGOs run hospitals, provide specialised care for the poor who are suffering from major illnesses like cancer, TB and AIDS in addition to other services Education NGOs run schools, hostels, remedial classes and provide scholarships to needy learners Children’s NGOs run homes, creches, provide nutrition, rescue facilities, helplines and more

2 Most of our NGOs are clustered in the Western region
Most of our NGOs are clustered in the Western region. Maharashtra alone provides 30% of all our listed NGOs, with Mumbai NGOs making up over 55% of that total! Karnataka and Tamil Nadu each bring 10% of all NGOs in the Southern region The Northern region contains the largest number of states (11). The union territory of Delhi makes up about 9% of all NGOs there The North-East region has the lowest number of NGOs listed on our site. If you know of any NGOs that work in the North Eastern states or West Bengal, do refer them to us!

3 The Akshaya Patra Foundation is the NGO with the largest income of our listed NGOs. Their mid-day meal programme supplies about 1.5 million meals a day to schoolchildren. SOS Children’s Villages of India helps nearly 7000 children in need across India. Their SOS Villages provide care, shelter and support to abandoned and orphaned children BAIF Development Research Foundation works with 59 lakh families in 13 states. They provide services to farmers, landless labourers and others to make agriculture more sustainable, improve access to water resources and livestock Caritas: Caritas works with over 250 NGO partners to reach millions of poor across India. They tackle issues of urban poverty, livelihood and community health Charutar Arogya Mandal provides highly subsidised treatments to poor patients in Gujarat. Their Shree Krishna hospital provides free general wards and outdoor consultaton
