Check clickwrap approved list 1st at Unnecessary services: Do not install: Web/FTP services or P2P applications on your RA/TA workstation. DO NOT store sensitive data on non-approved cloud services. Visit NCSU monitors network Clickwrap agreement requires “I agree” or “I accept”. These are legal contracts and subject to University contracting policy. The BASICS – Computing Account & File Space/Storage
13
University Computing Accounts
Unity Account or Unity ID It is a unique ID. Example: cabenave Unity Password – UIA (User Identification and Authentication) Address: (example: Student ID # or Campus ID #
14
What happens To Unity Accts after graduation?
Students who graduate with a degree retain access to Google and MyPack portal All other access: Kerberos (AFS), AD Wolftech are disabled soon after graduation (1 month).
15
University File System/Storage
AFS: Andrew File System (distributed file system) 2GB /afs/unity/users/a-z/UnityID/ /afs/unity/users/a-z/UnityID/www/ (www4 Web tool to setup this) Only HTML supported NCSU-Drive: 5GB SMB, CIFS connection Google Drive: Unlimited AFS and NCSU Drive are not accessible via the Web. You will need to map a drive on your computer in order to connect to AFS or NCSU-Drive
16
Additional File Storage Through Engineering
Personal file space (per request basis only): To request: 2GB Non-Web path: /afs/eos/lockers/people/a-z/UnityID/private Web path: /afs/eos/lockers/people/a-z/UnityID/www Web address: PHP enabled MySQL services if needed Research Group file space (per request basis only): Faculty/advisor can request more file share space for Web and Non-Web via :

How do I get to AFS? Access to AFS is possible from centrally managed machines (Realm RedHat, Windows AD, Mac OS X Casper) available in labs and remote servers Third party clients: Putty, WinSCP, ExpanDrive, or other FTP client that supports SFTP Protocol. Available remote hosts to connect to AFS: remote.eos.ncsu.edu: COE “shared” remote servers not intended to run multiple jobs ftp.ncsu.edu (SFTP only) Realm Linux and Windows AD machines are widely used throughout NCSU to unify NCSU’s computing environment. Use your university Unity acct login to access. Remote.eos.ncsu.edu: can be accessed from home; uses secure, encrypted communication. Please do not run long running jobs that may cause fork bombs
