REVIEW What are the components of communication? TEACHER SCRIPT: The factors of communication are: what you say, how you say it, appearance, body language, and listening. What you say-The words you choose. How you say it-This is your tone. The way you say it, and how loud you say it. Appearance-This is one of the first things people notice. Whether its right or wrong, people are often judged by the way they appear. Are your pants pulled up? Are your shorts extremely short? Your appearance is your first impression of you. Body Language-Your body language is the way you dress, walk, stand, or sit and it communicates to others. Is your head up or down? Are you looking away or at someone else when you are being talking to? These are all body language cues. Listening-You must carefully listen to what they have to say and give your full attention. For that to happen, you have to make good choices. Tomorrow’s consequences are based on today’s choices. If you want good consequences tomorrow, it starts with making good choices today. I challenge you to think about the things we’ve been discussing and apply them to your life. Many people will come to pressure you to get involved with risky behaviors including sexual activity.
