2 Culinary Arts Education in Support of Youth Employment and Social Inclusion (CASYS) BG01-KA Relevant documents: (1) National Strategy for Life-long learning for the period (2) The State Education Standtards - knowledge, skills and professional activities that are performed within a profession, as well as the required personal abilities (3) The Vocational Education and Training Act – VETA (1999) - last modified in 2014 to explicitly allow for validation

4 Culinary Arts Education in Support of Youth Employment and Social Inclusion (CASYS) BG01-KA New VETA issues: additional opportunities for the citizens to acquire a VET qualification in a profession or part of it through validation of vocational knowledge, skills and competences resulting from non-formal training and informal learning. validation by the VET providers: vocational schools, vocational gymnasiums, colleges, art schools, sports schools, licensed vocational training centres.

5 Culinary Arts Education in Support of Youth Employment and Social Inclusion (CASYS) BG01-KA New VETA issues: regulation of the opportunity for the trainees in formal VET system to accumulate credits, necessary for acquiring a vocational qualification in a profession included in the LPVET. credits can be transferred for acquiring a VET qualification in another profession from the same vocational area. Credits can be accumulated with the achievement of particular units of learning outcomes.

Culinary Arts Education in Support of Youth Employment and Social Inclusion (CASYS) BG01-KA VET Qualification LEVELS First: professional competencies for practicing professions, which include routine activities carried out under steady conditions; Second: professional competencies for practicing professions that include activities of complex nature carried out under changing conditions; Third: professional competencies for practicing professions involving complex activities carried out under changing conditions, and responsibilities for the work of others; Fourth: professional competencies for practicing professions involving a broad range of complex activities carried out under changing conditions, and assuming management responsibilities for the work of others and allocation of resources.

8 Culinary Arts Education in Support of Youth Employment and Social Inclusion (CASYS) BG01-KA CASYS REferecne No ECVET in practice at the national level; The recognition of credits from VET into HEI is based on individual institutional decisions; CASYS adapted as a VET course for the part of profession “Cook” & “Restaurant Manager” CASYS offered as an extra-curriculum for the majors “International Hospitality Management” and at CAI; CASYS provides as an independent course: the results subject to validation at VET and HEI level (IC and VUM)
