4 Hierarchy of Needs According to Abraham Maslow there are 5 basic levels Maslow presented these levels in a hierarchy, or ranking He ranked them from most essential to least You must meet the 1st level before moving on to the next.

Safety / Security Protects you from physical harm. You feel both physically and emotional secure. Feeling safe from threats and danger. You need to feel safe in your surroundings and know what to expect.
