Abraham Maslow moved away from the view that people are controlled by the subconscious or by the environment. He believed individuals are controlled by their values and the choices they make. He devised a model of true human needs showing that a well-adjusted person satisfies needs on level 1 before the other needs on level 2, etc. before the last level can be fulfilled and people can reach their fullest potential.
Physiological needs: Food, shelter, sexual satisfaction, needs for basic survival. Safety needs: The need to feel safe within your environment. Also refers to emotional and physical safety. Social Needs: The need for love, friendship and belonging
Esteem needs: The need for self-respect, status and recognition from others. Self-actualization: The point of reaching one’s full potential.
