1 Ad-hoc Transportation test of «CLIC module»
2.0 M. Aicheler

2 Those two girders to be transported into storage area in Building 162
=> ad-hoc Transportation-Test Those two girders to be transported into storage area in Building 162 => ad-hoc Transportation-Test Now, we would like to store them in the basement of 169 in the CLIC storage room. No need for real transportation anymore Load on a truck and come back to the same place!

3 AS simple mockup Plain material, no inner geometry Brazed (for material state compareable to CLIC AS) and very cheap to manufacture Core diametre 80mm Manifolds 40mm x 40mm Roughly same weight and similar mechanical properties Will be reused for tests with new supports!

4 Now at CERN Core is a machining test piece from VDL Added holes in manifolds for easier attachment of trial supports

5 1st test: Classic V-support as in CDR
MB Girder AS Vibration logger Fiducial Clamping of AS to girder as in CDR/CLEX Aims: Record relevant vibration data Show robustness of system

6 2nd test: support based on flexures
Supports are being designed; shown here are conceptual (Missing: adjustment) Start with easy lateral DOF Aims: Show robustness of system Show adjustability and repeatability Get cost estimates for such kind of supports DB girder

7 Updated list of steps: Installation, clamping, on site-fiducialisitation, installation of vibration logger in Build 18 Transport by manual crane into transportation box Transport of box with manual lifter Transport of box with truck Final on site (build 18) survey and evaluation of vibration logger Overall time estimation for test (including fiducialisation and final survey): 2 days

8 Targeted outcome: Open questions:
Evaluate the loss in position precision during a transportation test with the CDR design of support and clamping Assess the typical spectrum of vibration/shock exposure of a CLIC girder during various transportation steps for future support design Open questions: Transport in a box? => Yes Clamping details => Similar Clamps available Details on manufacturing of simple AS mockup => done: AS mockup at CERN
