10 Did you know? More children die of childhood cancer than any other disease in the U.S., and every year 300,000 kids worldwide are diagnosed. And cancer doesn’t care about borders, race, nationality, age, socioeconomic status or religion—it can strike any child at any time.

11 Ike is a childhood cancer fighter who just finished treatment for
acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a cancer of the white blood cells that normally fight infection. The cells do not grow and develop properly, filling up the bone marrow inside bones, where blood is normally made ALL is the most common type of childhood cancer, accounting for 35% of all cancers in children. Each year, there are about 2,900 new cases of children and adolescents diagnosed with ALL in the United States alone. Ike’s strength and attitude has inspired friends and family to adopt the motto “Tough Like Ike!” After all, being a normal kid is what Ike’s always wanted. And now that he’s only going in to the hospital for check-ups every two months, he’s able to get back to doing just that.
