Capacity as at 2016 The Terminal Capacity (Landside) is TEU’s; Quay Side Capacity (Berth Capacity) is 1.4m TEU’s; There is urgency to increase Terminal Capacity to 1.4m TEU’s to demand by 2020 ( based on a 3 % Sustainable Growth Rate) Phase 2B Cape Town Container Expansion Project aims: To increase Terminal Capacity to TEU’s Progress: Project Team developing the Owners Requirement’s Specifications to define the requirements relevant to the execution of the project. Important issues to be considered: Adequate Vessel Turning circle within Ben Schoeman Dock Increase in size of vessels Progress: TNPA to complete Feasibility Study in March 2017 to adequately respond to these new demands.

Project Progress: Project Team identifying targeted customers to establish expectations. Project team to map out project plan in Phases (short, medium and long term); to be communicated to all stakeholders by October 2017.

8 CRUISE TERMINAL DEVELOPMENTS
A gateway to Africa, strategically situated between the West and East. An international tourism destination that will host unique lifestyle offering. V&A Waterfront is the appointed terminal operator Cruise Terminal Facility to be designed, constructed, developed and then operated and maintained, all in accordance with International Best Practice. Construction planned to finish December 2017

9 BURGAN CAPE TERMINALS Burgan Cape Terminals has been formed in response to the Government’s drive to strengthen the country’s security of fuel supply. Burgan Cape Terminals is a black-empowered, independent storage company. Signed a 20-year lease agreement with the Port of Cape Town. To create a major new storage and distribution facility at the Eastern Mole of the Port of Cape Town. It will comprise 118,000 m3 capacity, with a product portfolio including diesel, petrol, fame & ethanol for blending, and CF2. A major injection into the local economy of a projected R 650 million.

12 Tanks to be constructed to ULP, ETHANOL and Diesel. Completion date: February 2017 Testing: March 2017 Operational: April 2017

11 CULEMBORG The precinct is planned as a mixed use precinct that promotes core back of port land uses in support of international competitiveness and growth. Owned by Transnet Property and extends to 160 ha. Site is substantially underutilised and represents an income generating opportunity for Transnet and great benefits for the local economy. Group Planning in the process of obtaining approvals to undertake further specialist studies and to establish a multi-representative steering committee (Transnet OD, City of Cape Town etc) to ensure sustainable development of the precinct.

The Port of Cape Town strives towards being a Smart People’s Port through ensuring: Functional integration through interconnected systems: Smart Port: IPMS; Ops Centre’s. Improved public access and enhance the enjoyment and appreciation of the port environment: Port Festival; Training Centre. Plan for Public Access-Oriented Zones designed to be attractive, active, pedestrian-oriented environments and to promote port as a vibrant hub of diverse business opportunities. Potential Maritime Commercial developments ancillary to the Cruise Terminal and V&A Waterfront.
