Surveys to student and alumni

3 KTH regularly conducts four different major surveys
Newly admitted students Population: Beginners at KTH's five-year and three -year study programmes. Frequency: Every third year Midterm Survey Population: students who are halfway through their education Frequency: Every third year Alumni Career Survey Population: all alumni of the undergraduate and graduate levels who had graduated in between year X and X. Frequency: Every third year PhD Career Survey Population: individuals who had been admitted to a KTH PhD program between year X to X, regardless of whether they had completed their education or not. Frequency: Every fourth year

4 Newly admitted students survey
The purpose of the survey is to gain more knowledge of these newly admitted students. Covers: where the students comes from. Their studies in secondary school. Why they applied to KTH. Their feelings about choosing a technical education. We ask them to estimate their knowledge in mathematics, chemistry and physics. Midterm Survey - The purpose of the survey is to examine how students perceive their learning environment, their education program and their study situation. Covers: students' background, housing, how they view their education and perceive their teachers, support functions, their own study motivation and study effort, their attitude towards and ability to identify with their study program and the university as a whole, physical as well as psycho-social health, study breaks, and negative treatment.

5 PhD Career Survey The purpose of this survey is to investigate the PhD alumni career, theirs career development and how they feel about their education and Alma mater. Covers: to which extent they are employed, sectors, employers, salaries, and their job tasks. How they feel about their education and if it really meets the demands of working life and their time at KTH. We also asks about their international career and experience.

6 Results PhD 2017 – What is your current primary employment situation?

7 Alumni Career Survey 2014 The survey is conducted in collaboration with Statistics Sweden. Distributed by mail and to all graduates including international alumni 2-3 years after they finish their education. The purpose of this survey is to investigate the alumni career, theirs career development and how they feel about their previous education and Alma mater. KTH sees it as its responsibility that KTH alumni gets a good career based on it’s education and diploma from KTH. A KTH education should lead to a competitive position in the labor market and prepare for lifelong learning. Knowledge of the occupational careers of the KTH Alumni is essential for both teachers, students, employers and decision makers of KTH.

8 Results from career survey 2014
The survey shows that a KTH degree is an entry point to employment, relevant tasks and a relatively high salary. 94 percent found employment after graduating. 52 percent during education. Graduates from architectural and five year Master of Science in Engineering programs, practically all have been employed. The graduates primarily found employment thanks to their degree projects, through job advertisements, personal networks and individual contact with employers.

16 Implementing the results
The results is analyzed in a report and presented to: President and the management at KTH. The Schools Executive Group Directors of First and Second Cycle Education Directors of Third Cycle Education. The information is used in the schools strategic planning, quality progress and evaluation, by the student counselor. Education Assessment Exercise (EAE). As a quality indicator. Marketing and recruitment. Only one piece of the puzzle. KTH also use rankings and statistics from Statistics Sweden and conduct a successful Alumni office who offers tools and platforms to connect with KTH alumni. They provide a link between KTH:s alumni, students and the industry.
