3 Pros and Cons of File Conversion
Upload and Convert This choice will automatically format all your documents into google format. In some cases the formatting will not be the same Upload and leave in their original format Recommended Files can always be converted later when you are ready to share and collaborate using that file You can upload individual files, multiple files or folders at one time

4 Uploading Files – Step 1 and 2
Step 1 - Logging in to Google Drive: Open the Chrome browser Click on the “waffle” or gray square of squares in the top right corner of the screen OR the multi-colored Apps square of squares on the far left of the menu bar at the top of the screen.  If neither is available, go to drive.google.com by typing this URL in the address bar at the top of the browser. Enter your login information - remember to after your username. Step 2 - Setting Upload Conversion: In Google Drive, click on the Gear icon and select Settings.   Under General, there is a setting called Convert uploads.  Keep the box unchecked to upload your files in their original format.  Later on if you want to change this setting to automatically convert uploaded files, you can check the box. Close out of Settings by clicking Done.

5 Uploading File Methods Method 1
Method 1 - Drag and Drop Method: Click on the Windows Explorer icon in the systems tray and go to your H Drive. Notice how you can see both your Google Drive browser page and your H Drive.  You can reduce the size of the Windows Explorer box if necessary to better view the Google Drive screen. Make sure you are in My Drive or whatever folder you wish to place the uploaded file(s)/folder(s). Click and hold the file(s) or folder(s) you wish to upload. Hold down the Shift or Control key to select multiple files or folders. Drag the file(s)/folder(s) to anywhere on your Google Drive browser screen and release the mouse button. You will see a small box in the bottom right corner of your Google Drive screen that shows the status of the uploading.  Keep in mind that uploading can take several minutes if you are uploading large quantities of files.  The file(s) or folder(s) will automatically display in your Google Drive once they are uploaded.  Notice that the icon to the left of the file name will indicate the original file format (WORD, Excel, PPT, PDF)  The filename is automatically made the same filename as on your H Drive with the addition of the file suffix, such as .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, etc.

Double click documents folder or network drive to open directory Click folder icon on task bar to open windows explorer

Click and drag files or folders onto google drive screen to automatically upload them

8 Upload Progress While files are being uploaded you can continue to manage files and folders in H drive in order to purge unneeded files and organize files and folders

9 Uploading File Methods Method 2
Method 2 - The Upload Button in Google Drive: Make sure you are in My Drive or whatever folder you wish to place the uploaded file(s)/folder(s). Click on the New button in the left column of the Google Drive screen. Select File upload or Folder upload depending on which you wish to upload. From the Open box, go to your H Drive and select the file(s) or folder you wish to upload.  You can select multiple files by holding down the Shift key as you click on each file. You can only upload one folder at a time using this method. You will again see the small upload status box in the right corner alerting you to when the upload is completed.

Click New to bring up menu Create new folder Upload existing file or folder

Select file Click Open
