3. Hot Chocolate Cocoa powder is mixed with hot milk.

5. Before Dissolving
Sugar Particles are Strongly attracted to each other (held in fixed positions)
Sugar surrounds sugar

6. After Dissolving
Sugar Particles are now attracted to water particles (s-s attractions were broken)
Water surrounds sugar

7. Energy and Dissolving
It takes WORK to break the strong attractions sugar molecules have for each other.
ENERGY TRANSFER = WORK DONE
Water particles are moving around and have KE. When they collide with the sugar cube they transfer KE to the sugar particles. If the collision is hard enough, some sugar molecules break away.
More KE = more collisions and harder collisions = more energy transferred = attractions are broken quicker = dissolves faster
