1 Bringing technology to the students’ proximity

2 Technology Based Learning Projects (TBLPs)
Technology-Based Learning projects (TBLP) within a sociocultural perspective. Learning activities are organized in a technology-rich environment where students have some degree of autonomy

3 Cont’d To construct new knowledge through interaction and action. ie focused groups discussions, data findings from research etc. Learning Projects depends on; The technology used as pedagogical tool that relates to students Sociocultural proximity taking into account Physical proximity, Cultural tools i.e. (language communication and thinking) and Contextual (real life world)

4 Cont’d Group discussion allows students to attend more clearly to meaning as they interact with language of discipline. Students are responsible of their own learning Group learning- develop skills of communication and team work Role of a teacher – to facilitate, directs, guides

5 Circle of constructing new knowledge
experience information Action Knowledge building appropriation Sharing experience

6 Constructing new knowledge
Knowledge is constructed through learner activity and interaction (Biggs,1999:93) We believe that every student in a group has some experience Students and trainers are involved in a group discussions for sharing experience (knowledge building)

7 Cont’d Applying ideas-appropriation
Developing TBLPs through reflection; Experience-past -current -future( participatory appropriation)

8 Approaches to learning
Surface approach: learning basically understood as for reproducing A … increasing one's knowledge B … memorizing and reproducing C … applying

9 Approaches to learning (Cont’d)
Deep Approach: learning basically understood as an act for seeking meaning D … understanding E …seeing something in a different way F … changing as a person

10 Factors influencing surface learning
A text, a problem formulation as an end in itself Learning through test Concentration on procedures, time limits and learning of details Previous knowledge, time constraints, an over-demanding syllabus, frequent assessment for credit, lack of feedback Assessment for recall, grade being the only feedback

11 Factors influencing deep learning
Seeking relations between ideas; Teaching and assessment methods that foster active and long-term engagement with the learning tasks, clearly stated expectations, teachers' commitment to the material and emphasis on meaning and relevance to students

12 Methodology Definition-Planning(change the environment to make them think out box) Investigation-exploration(Make research about subjects related to project, interaction between classmates, same subject different sources) Synthesis: grouping findings, searching on internet, books etc Donate= presentation(discussions, feedback from audience) Way forward (sustainability of the project)

13 Learning conditions Groups’ work (two groups with the same topic)
Supporting students in the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) Learning through the patterns of variation
